On Wednesday, Figma, the design platform known for its website and app creation capabilities, unveiled a suite of new artificial intelligence (AI) tools during its annual Figma Config 2025 event held in San Francisco. With the introduction of these innovations, the company aims to enhance and diversify its offerings for users. The newly launched tools include Figma Site, Figma Make, Figma Buzz, and Figma Draw, all designed to cater to the needs of the platform’s paid “full seat” subscribers.

The newly introduced tools were detailed in a series of blog posts released by the company. Figma Sites expands the functionalities of the existing Figma Design platform, allowing users to not only design but also create and publish fully functional websites within the same workflow. This update enhances the previous capabilities, which were limited to front-end design.

This new tool provides users with various options for layouts, blocks, templates, and interactions, all accessible via AI prompts. Additionally, users can animate different elements of their designs. A multi-edit feature offers granular control over text styles, sizes, and spacing while enabling simultaneous design layouts for various devices.

Figma Make represents the company’s latest effort to enable users to design web app prototypes seamlessly within its workflow. Last year, the platform introduced Make Design; however, it was retracted after users raised concerns about the AI-generated mock-ups resembling existing iOS apps too closely.

The new Figma Make tool serves as a prompt-to-code utility, empowering designers and product teams to create, edit, iterate, and test web applications directly. Integrated into the Design platform, users can input prototype designs alongside text prompts, allowing the AI to reference the images in building an interactive app experience. This function is particularly valuable for enterprises looking to maintain consistency in branding across their products.

Figma Buzz is designed to bridge the gap between marketing and design teams within organizations. It allows designers to develop brand-specific templates and assets, which marketers can then utilize through the Buzz tool. They can select a template and either edit it manually or engage the AI chatbot for assistance, all while preserving brand identity.

In addition, Figma Draw is a vector-based tool that enables designers to create illustrations directly in the platform. This tool provides a range of features, including brushes, dynamic strokes, progressive blur, as well as texture and noise effects. It also includes layers and properties panels, giving users comprehensive control over their designs.

Interestingly, Figma Draw is seen as a competitor to Adobe Illustrator, although it currently lacks some of the advanced features offered by Adobe’s platform. Still, for users who spend significant time in Figma, this tool may offer a more streamlined experience.

In a noteworthy development from earlier this year, Adobe attempted to acquire Figma for $20 billion, but plans were abandoned after U.S. regulators opposed the merger on anti-competitive grounds.
