Figma Make, a prompt-to-application coding tool introduced by Figma earlier this year, is now available to all users. Much like AI coding solutions such as Google’s Gemini Code Assist and Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot, Figma Make enables users to create functional prototypes and apps using everyday language, eliminating the need for extensive coding expertise.
Initially released in beta for users subscribed to the “Full Seat” plan, which grants access to all of Figma’s design tools, Figma Make is now open to all users, though functionalities may vary based on their subscription tiers. Currently, the feature to publish designs created with Figma Make remains in beta and is exclusive to Full Seat users. For those on the View, Collab, Dev, or free Starter Seat plans, the use is restricted to personal drafts, allowing users to experiment but not publish their creations unless they upgrade to a Full Seat subscription.
A notable advantage of Figma Make is its capability to include design references. Users can upload images or designs from Figma alongside their descriptions—such as creating an animated music player—to steer the appearance of the final outcome. Elements like text formatting and font styles can also be modified through further AI prompts or adjusted manually.
As Figma Make moves beyond its beta phase, it joins other Figma features such as the Make and Edit Image tool, which utilizes generative AI for creating or editing images based on user descriptions, as well as a resolution enhancement feature designed to improve lower-quality images.
Figma is also unveiling a new AI credit system, which assigns users a specific number of credits to be used for accessing AI tools on the platform, with allocation differing based on subscription level. According to Figma, users on the View, Collab, and Dev Seat plans will have lower credit thresholds, which may change over time, while those with Full Seat subscriptions will enjoy unlimited access for now.
“AI credits are designed to accommodate daily needs for Full Seat users, but for those requiring additional usage, team administrators will have the option to purchase extra credits later this year,” stated Figma in its announcement. “For the time being, we will not be strictly applying credit limits for Full Seat plans.”
