Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has once again made headlines with changes to the platform, this time swapping out the traditional blue bird logo for the ‘doge’ meme associated with the Dogecoin cryptocurrency.
On Monday, users of the web version of Twitter spotted the new ‘doge’ meme, which originated as a joke in 2013 and has since become iconic on the Dogecoin blockchain.
Musk humorously tweeted a post featuring the ‘doge’ meme depicting a Shiba Inu in a car, humorously telling a police officer, who appears to be reviewing his driver’s license, that the photo has been updated.

It should be noted that the logo change did not extend to Twitter’s mobile application.
The ‘doge’ image is widely recognized as the emblem of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, which was created to satirize mainstream cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, according to Variety.
Musk also shared a screenshot from a conversation on March 26, 2022, where an anonymous user suggested replacing the bird logo with ‘doge.’ In his follow-up tweet, he stated, “As promised.”

Musk’s passion for the Doge meme is well-documented; he acquired Twitter last fall in a deal valued at $44 billion and has frequently advocated for Dogecoin. Following the logo change, the market value of Dogecoin surged by over 20 percent.
In a tweet from March 2022, prior to his acquisition of Twitter, Musk stated, “Given that Twitter serves as the de facto public town square, failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy. What should be done?” to which a user advised, “just buy twitter… and change the bird logo to a doge.” Musk replied, “Haha that would sickkk.”
A previous photo shared by Musk also humorously stated, “Seize the Memes of Production,” highlighting his commitment to meme culture.
Earlier this year on February 15, Musk’s fondness for ‘doge’ was apparent when he tweeted a picture of the Dogecoin logo, referring to himself as the amazing CEO of Twitter.
