Meta has unveiled a new set of smart glasses developed in partnership with Oakley, a renowned manufacturer of sports performance equipment. The first product from this collaboration, named the Oakley Meta HSTN, merges Oakley’s distinct HSTN style with Meta’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology. These smart glasses feature support for Meta AI, enabling users to communicate through voice commands to receive information and perform tasks.
These innovative glasses, the Oakley Meta HSTN, will retail for $499 (approximately Rs. 43,200) and are available as a limited edition item for pre-order starting July 11. In addition, other models in the collection will be priced from $399 (around Rs. 34,500) and will be accessible for purchase later this year.
Currently, the Oakley Meta glasses have been launched across various regions, including the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. Future plans include extending availability to emerging markets such as India, Mexico, and the UAE later in the year.

According to Meta, the Oakley Meta is intended to represent a new category of performance-oriented AI glasses, designed specifically for athletes. This collaboration introduces the Oakley Meta HSTN, which features distinct gold accents along with 24K PRIZM Polar lenses.

In keeping with the features of other smart glasses, such as the Ray-Ban Meta, the Oakley Meta HSTN is equipped with a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording video at an impressive 3K resolution, an upgrade from the 1080p quality of the earlier model produced with Ray-Ban. The camera, along with an LED light that serves as a recording indicator, is integrated on either side of the frame.
This design facilitates the capture of point-of-view (PoV) videos via a dedicated capture button, and it supports live streaming on platforms like Instagram. The device also boasts a five-microphone array for audio recording. With an IPX4 rating, the glasses offer protection against dust and water ingress.
Users of the Oakley Meta glasses can manage calls and send messages using apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, and others. They can also access hands-free features via the ‘Hey Meta’ prompt. The glasses provide real-time updates on weather, activity planning, culinary advice, and music playback through integrations with popular streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify.
Meta asserts that the Oakley Meta HSTN offers enhanced battery performance compared to previous models like the Ray-Ban Meta. Users can expect up to eight hours of standard usage from a single charge, with a standby time of up to 19 hours. A quick charge feature allows the glasses to reach 50 percent battery within just 20 minutes, and they come with a charging case capable of extending power for up to 48 hours.
