The highly anticipated expansion for Elden Ring is set to unveil its first trailer. Developers FromSoftware announced that the trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be showcased on February 21. Scheduled to premiere at 7am PST (8.30pm IST) on Wednesday, the trailer is expected to spotlight gameplay from this significant expansion. Additionally, it may reveal the official launch date for the content that was first teased nearly a year ago, in February 2023.
The official Elden Ring account on X (formerly known as Twitter) shared news on Wednesday morning that the gameplay trailer would air later in the day at 3pm UTC (8.30pm IST). The presentation will run for three minutes and include language subtitle options. Gamers can catch the trailer on Bandai Namco’s YouTube channel, which has already set up a stream that is set to go live later today.
Shadow of the Erdtree was initially revealed on February 28, 2023, along with key artwork for the expansion. Since that announcement, FromSoftware has kept details about the upcoming content under wraps. The cryptic message accompanying the DLC announcement urged fans: “Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together.”
Despite the limited information, dedicated fans have been actively analyzing available details to form theories regarding the expansion. There is speculation that Shadow of the Erdtree will center around Miquella, a character who is the brother of Malenia and is cursed to remain in a perpetual state of youth.
Elden Ring previously received its first free DLC in December 2022, which introduced a PvP combat arena known as the Colosseum. The base game was launched in February 2022, receiving critical acclaim and achieving a remarkable milestone of over 20 million copies sold within its first year, alongside earning the title of Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2022.
The upcoming Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
