Remedy Entertainment has announced that its acclaimed action-adventure game, Control Ultimate Edition, will be available on Mac starting February 12, 2025. This development marks another step in the studio’s efforts to expand its gaming offerings on Apple’s platform, following the success of other high-profile titles over the past year as Apple aims to enhance its gaming capabilities on Mac devices.
Control Ultimate Edition Set to Launch on Mac
The announcement was made during Remedy’s Capital Markets Day 2024 presentation, where Johannes Paloheimo, the studio’s chief commercial officer, expressed excitement about the release. “I’m also really glad to say that Control Ultimate Edition will be releasing on Apple Mac hardware on February 12, 2025,” he stated. Paloheimo also hinted at a “small update” for the game that will debut in early 2025, which will provide players with new content and enhancements.
While specific Mac model support was not disclosed by Remedy, it is anticipated that the game will be compatible with M1 models and later, consistent with the trend seen in recent game releases for Apple’s computers.

During the session, Paloheimo provided an update on Control’s sales figures, revealing that the game has sold over 4.5 million copies across all platforms. Additionally, the development of Control 2 was mentioned, which will incorporate RPG elements, although no further specifics on the game’s release timeline were shared.
Paloheimo also discussed the Alan Wake series, stating that it has attracted over 15 million players throughout its existence. The recent release of Alan Wake Remastered has sold more than 1.7 million copies, while its sequel, Alan Wake 2, has exceeded 1.8 million sales since its launch in 2023.

Control was initially launched on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in 2019, followed by the release of Ultimate Edition in 2020, which bundles the original game with its expansions and other enhancements. This edition became available on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in 2021.
In recent months, a variety of notable games have been made available on Apple devices, spanning supported models of iPhone, iPad, and Mac, as part of the company’s broader initiative in the gaming sector. Titles like those from the Resident Evil franchise, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage can now be played on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models, as well as M1-equipped iPads and Macs.
Upcoming releases for Mac include Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown set for December 3 and the Resident Evil 2 remake, which will debut on Apple devices on December 31. Additionally, CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be available on Apple silicon-powered Macs in early 2025.
