French developer Sandfall Interactive has achieved significant success with their turn-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which has sold a remarkable 3.3 million copies in just over a month since its launch in April. Founded in 2020 by former Ubisoft employees, this debut title has already set a record as the highest-rated game of 2025. Notably, it reached one million copies sold within just three days of its release.

The notable sales achievement aligns interestingly; the game moved 3.3 million units in precisely 33 days. Released on April 24 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, the RPG has garnered considerable attention.
In a recent post on X, the developer celebrated the milestone, saying, “Thirty-three days ago, we released Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Since then, we’ve sold 3.3 million copies. Seriously. As of today. We couldn’t make that up.”
Sandfall described the synchronicity of the sales figures as “another entry on the long list of surreal moments.”

Upon launch, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 received critical acclaim and a positive response from players. Inspired by Japanese classics like Final Fantasy, the game holds an impressive Metacritic score of 92, placing it ahead of other notable titles such as Blue Prince, Split Fiction, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Among its strong performance metrics, the game surpassed an all-time peak concurrent player count of 145,000 on Steam and is also available on Xbox Game Pass. Upon launch, it sold 500,000 units on its release day and achieved the one million milestone shortly after.
The narrative unfolds in a dark fantasy Belle Époque setting, where players join the titular Expedition 33 in their quest to defeat the Paintress, a malevolent goddess threatening to obliterate all life on Earth.
