Character.AI, a social application driven by artificial intelligence, has announced the launch of its community feed on mobile platforms. The California-based company revealed on Monday that users will now have the ability to share a variety of posts concerning both their created characters and those with whom they have interacted. This feature allows the community to engage with shared content in multiple ways. Initially introduced on the company’s website in June, the feature is now set to be accessible via mobile devices.
Character.AI Expands Social Feed Functionality to Mobile Apps
According to a blog post from the company, the AI-native social feed is now available for users on both Android and iOS. This scrollable platform allows for the posting of various content types, including Characters, Scenes, and Streams, alongside creator-generated videos in one centralized location. A unique aspect of Character.AI’s social feed is the interactive nature it offers—users can engage with the content, offering more than mere passive consumption.
“Users can visit the Feed for a relaxed experience and enjoy content from our talented creators, but they can also advance the storyline or craft a new adventure. Doomscrolling is a thing of the past. We’re introducing the next generation of AI-enhanced entertainment,” stated Karandeep Anand, CEO of Character.AI.
The social feed supports several forms of short-form content. One feature, Chat Snippets, enables users to share excerpts from their conversations with AI chatbots, showcasing the personality of the AI. Users can also present Character Cards, which serve as previews of characters and allow viewers to initiate conversations directly. Another new offering, Streams, lets users provide AI personas with topics for debates, roast battles, and vlogs—these can also be shared on the community feed.
In addition, a recently introduced video generation feature for paid subscribers, known as Avatar FX, allows users to create short videos of any AI character within the ecosystem. Users can also share AI-generated images derived from their interactions with characters.
Emphasizing the importance of a safe user environment, Character.AI announced that the community feed will incorporate AI-driven moderation tools as well as oversight from its Trust & Safety team. The platform will also promote a community-based approach to moderation where users can hide or report inappropriate content.
