Character.AI introduced an array of new multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) features on Monday, designed to enhance user interaction with characters on its platform. The California-based AI company revealed an innovative image-to-video generation tool that enables users to create and share videos featuring their personalized characters. Additionally, a new Community Feed has been launched, providing a space for users to share their content with others. Some features are already accessible, while others are set to be introduced in the coming weeks.
Character.AI Unveils Scenes, Screen, and AvatarFX
The AI company has rolled out six new functionalities that users can access immediately or in the near future. Certain features are exclusive to c.ai+ subscribers, while others are available for all users. In India, the monthly c.ai+ subscription is priced at Rs. 990.
The first new addition is called Scenes, which includes interactive and pre-populated storylines. This feature allows users to seamlessly incorporate any character and expand the narrative without the need to type out initial setups for role-playing scenarios. Users can dive directly into the story, fostering creative engagement.
Character.AI plans to introduce a selection of scenes for users to experience. Later this summer, it will offer the ability for users to design and publish their own scenes, a function exclusive to mobile applications, accessible through the menu beneath the search option.
Another noteworthy feature, AvatarFX, is an image-to-video generation tool that allows users to upload an avatar photo or any image and produce videos through text prompts. This tool enables the creation of interactive videos featuring beloved characters or introduces plotlines for dynamic storytelling. Currently available on the web, it will soon be integrated into mobile apps.
A newly redesigned Profile feature for mobile users allows individuals to customize their profiles by adding created characters and organizing their content as preferred. This enhancement aims to make creator profiles more appealing to other users.
Character.AI is also introducing a new feature named Streams, allowing users to engage characters in interaction based on selected topics. Users will designate their preferred characters, enabling them to play out dynamic dialogues or storylines. This feature is expected to be available this week on both web and mobile platforms.
Moreover, the platform is working on a tool to animate user-favorite interactions with characters. While specifics remain scarce, it seems this function will transform text conversations into visual animations. This feature will be exclusive to c.ai+ subscribers on mobile apps.
Lastly, the Community Feed will serve as a shared platform for creators and users to post their newly generated content. This feature will showcase conversations, artwork, videos, and animations that users choose to publish, allowing for the discovery of fresh characters and innovative uses of the new tools. Character.AI confirmed that this feature will soon be available on mobile devices.
