Bose has announced that it will cease support for the cloud-based features of its SoundTouch products on February 18, 2026.

Following this date, users will lose access to certain functionalities, including integrated music services like Spotify and TuneIn, as well as multi-room playback options. The SoundTouch app will also become non-functional on that date, preventing users from controlling their speakers through the application. However, devices that support Bluetooth, AUX, or HDMI will continue to provide high-quality audio playback from connected sources.

Bose clarified which features will be affected:

While functions such as Bluetooth and AUX on standalone SoundTouch speakers (including SoundTouch 10, 20 Series III, and 30 Series III) may still operate with local connections, long-term reliability cannot be ensured. For SoundTouch-enabled home theater devices like the Lifestyle 650, SoundTouch 130, and SoundTouch 300 Soundbar, HDMI and optical inputs as well as Bluetooth should remain functional. However, SoundTouch streaming and app control features will be discontinued.

SoundTouch products were first introduced by Bose in 2013. The company has stated that advancements in technology have made it unfeasible to maintain the development and support for the cloud infrastructure associated with these older devices. Bose began transitioning away from the SoundTouch line several years ago, initially announcing in 2020 that it would cease the sales of select SoundTouch products, although it had committed to software support for the app and associated products at that time.

The discontinuation of cloud services will also entail the end of security updates for SoundTouch products. Moreover, Bose has indicated that there are no plans to introduce a replacement app or alternative platform for existing SoundTouch users.

Many customers have expressed dissatisfaction regarding these changes in a discussion thread on the Bose subreddit, which has garnered over 260 comments. One user expressed frustration, stating, “I have literally spent many thousands on these products. What a slap in the face. They are basically doorstops now.”

Bose has yet to respond to requests for further comment.
