Baldur’s Gate 3 has secured its position as a standout title at the 20th BAFTA Games Awards, earning the Best Game accolade among multiple wins for the expansive RPG developed by Larian Studios. The ceremony took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on Thursday night, where the Dungeons & Dragons-themed game emerged victorious in five categories, including Music, Narrative, and Performer in a Supporting Role, awarded to Andrew Wincott for his portrayal of Raphael. Additionally, Baldur’s Gate 3 triumphed in the EE Players’ Choice Award, reflecting its popularity among gamers.
Among the night’s highlights were Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, which clinched the Animation award, and Remedy Entertainment’s critically acclaimed sequel, Alan Wake 2, which won in Artistic Achievement and Audio Achievement categories. The Debut Game category was fiercely contested, with narrative-driven cooking game Venba managing to outshine established titles like Cucoon and Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical for the win. Meanwhile, Dave the Diver, a unique game focused on fishing and sushi preparation, secured victory in Game Design.
Prominent titles from last year, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, were also recognized during the evening. Tears of the Kingdom won the Technical Achievement award, while Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 earned recognition for Performer in a Leading Role, with Nadji Jeter’s performance as Miles Morales being particularly commended. Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder also added to its accolades, winning in both Family and Multiplayer categories.
