At the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards, Sony’s Astro Bot took center stage, winning five prestigious awards including the title of Best Game. The PS5 exclusive was also recognized for its achievements in Animation, Audio Achievement, Family, and Game Design categories, marking a significant triumph for PlayStation. Meanwhile, the live service shooter Helldivers 2 was honored with two awards for its contributions to Multiplayer and Music.
Indie title Still Wakes the Deep also celebrated a successful evening, clinching three awards, notably for New Intellectual Property and recognizing outstanding performances in both leading and supporting roles. Additionally, the indie gem Balatro received accolades in the Debut Game category.
Astro Bot’s victory comes on the heels of its remarkable success at various year-end awards, where it was named Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024. It faced tough competition from a distinguished lineup, including the roguelite deckbuilder Balatro, action-RPG Black Myth: Wukong, the PvE shooter Helldivers 2, the action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and the comedic title Thank Goodness You’re Here!
In the Narrative category, Metaphor: ReFantazio, hailed as one of the top-rated games of 2024, took home the award, while Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, available exclusively on Xbox and PC, was recognized for Technical Achievement.
