Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be launching on Steam later this month, marking its arrival one year after the game’s initial release. While a specific release date has not been disclosed, the game’s Steam page is now live, allowing fans to add it to their wishlists. Previously, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was exclusively available on PC through the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft store.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Coming to Steam

In a recent post on social media platform X, Ubisoft revealed its plans for the Steam release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage in October. “As we celebrate one year since launch, we can’t wait to welcome more fans to our back to the roots experience set in 9th century Baghdad,” the publisher stated. Gamers can now wishlist the title on Steam.

Recently, Ubisoft has been releasing its games on PC through its own platform and the Epic Games Store, typically with a delayed launch on Steam. However, changes in strategy are on the horizon with the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The publisher informed gamers last month about the postponement of the next installment, originally planned for launch on November 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025. Ubisoft also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on Steam from day one. “The game will mark the return of our new releases on Steam Day 1,” the company stated.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has streamlined its open-world design and narrative to provide a shorter experience, reminiscent of the series’ earlier titles. The game follows the journey of Basim, a clever street thief in ninth-century Baghdad, who becomes a member of the Hidden Ones and eventually an assassin. It was first released on October 25, 2023, across various platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.

In June of this year, Ubisoft extended Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s reach by making it available on iPhone and iPad devices. The game can now be played on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad Air and iPad Pro models equipped with the M1 chip or later.

Ubisoft Considering Strategic Options

While the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage approaches, Ubisoft also debuted Star Wars Outlaws last month, although the title did not meet the company’s expectations. Following underwhelming performance from Outlaws and the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft has revised its financial projections for FY 2024-25.

According to a report from Bloomberg, shareholders Tencent and Ubisoft’s founding Guillemot family are contemplating various options, including a potential buyout of the French video game developer, which has seen its market value drop by more than half in 2023.

In response to these developments, Ubisoft acknowledged the report this past Monday, stating that the company “regularly reviews all its strategic options.”
