A report indicates that Apple plans to introduce its first foldable iPhone in the latter half of 2026. This innovative device will feature OLED panels designed by Samsung Display, which has reportedly enhanced the folding display by minimizing the visible crease.
While specific production figures have not been disclosed, the foldable iPhone is expected to come with a premium price, positioning it to compete with similar offerings from brands such as Oppo, Samsung, OnePlus, Huawei, Vivo, and Honor.
Samsung to Begin Supplying OLED Panels for Foldable iPhone by Late 2025
According to a report from BusinessKorea, Apple will exclusively utilize OLED panels produced by Samsung Display for this upcoming device. The South Korean company’s advancements in display technology to reduce crease visibility have influenced Apple’s choice, steering them away from other manufacturers like LG Display and BOE.
The foldable iPhone is anticipated to feature a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch inner screen. Production of these OLED screens by Samsung is expected to commence by late 2025 or early 2026, with the launch of the device following in the subsequent year.
Reports suggest that Apple may manufacture as many as 15 million units of the foldable iPhone, exceeding prior estimates by approximately 6 million units. This device is set to take on competitors from Samsung in the U.S. market and other brands including Oppo, OnePlus, Huawei, Vivo, and Honor.
Recent insights indicate that Apple plans to adopt an “almost” 4:3 aspect ratio for the foldable iPhone, aligning it with the design of its iPad Air and iPad Pro models, which should facilitate software compatibility for the initial generation of the foldable device.
The foldable iPhone is projected to be one of Apple’s most expensive offerings, likely surpassing the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. According to an analyst at Barclays, the cost of the foldable iPhone could reach $2,300 (approximately Rs. 1,97,000) in the United States. Previous estimates had placed the price range between $2,000 (around Rs. 1,71,400) and $2,500 (about Rs. 2,14,200).
