A source has shared information regarding the display of the foldable iPhone on Weibo, a prominent Chinese microblogging platform. Previous leaks concerning the device’s dimensions have come from the same informant, and the newest update reveals that the upcoming iPhone with a folding screen may support applications designed to operate on an iPad.
Specifications for the Expected Foldable iPhone Display
An update on Weibo from Digital Chat Station, translated from Chinese, reveals that Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to feature a display with an “almost” 4:3 aspect ratio. This aspect ratio aligns with that of the standard iPad, the iPad Air, and the iPad Pro, while the iPad Mini is the only exception with a smaller screen.
The informant noted that Apple’s choice to implement the same aspect ratio for the foldable iPhone as its iPad models is intended to ensure seamless software compatibility. This strategy would permit apps originally designed for the iPad to function on the foldable phone’s inner screen, reducing the need for extensive redesigns of iOS applications to fit a broader display.
