Apple is set to broaden its retail presence in India by the end of this year, a development confirmed by CEO Tim Cook during the company’s latest earnings call. This initiative aims to fortify Apple’s position in a rapidly growing market, allowing consumers more opportunities to interact with the complete range of its products. The technology giant reported significant revenue growth in the third quarter (April-June) of this year, highlighted by a nearly 13 percent rise in iPhone sales.

Apple Plans New Retail Locations in India

In his remarks during the earnings call on Thursday, Cook announced Apple’s intention to establish additional retail stores in various locations before the year concludes. He emphasized the company’s ongoing interest in emerging markets, citing the intent to connect with a broader customer base through enhanced retail engagement.

“We recently launched the Apple Store online in Saudi Arabia, and we couldn’t be more excited to open new stores in the UAE and India later this year,” Cook stated. He also highlighted the recent opening of a store in Osaka, Japan, noting its strategic location.

Details regarding specific opening dates or store locations in India were not disclosed by Cook. Nonetheless, a report from May suggested that Apple plans to inaugurate four new retail locations in the country. Proposed sites include Sky City Mall in Borivali, Mumbai, and Phoenix Mall of Asia in Yelahanka, Bengaluru. The company is reportedly in the process of hiring staff for these new stores, with additional sites planned for Kopa Mall in Pune and DLF Mall of India in Noida.

This expansion is poised to enhance Apple’s presence in one of its most promising markets. New retail locations will provide greater access to Apple’s diverse product range, including iPhone models, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches. Apple’s inaugural retail store in India was opened in 2023 in Mumbai (Apple BKC), followed by its second store in Delhi (Apple Saket). Last month, Apple also expanded into Saudi Arabia with the launch of its online store and app.

In the third quarter of this year, Apple reported revenue of $94.04 billion (approximately Rs. 8.22 lakh crore), reflecting an almost 10 percent increase compared to the previous year. The iPhone drove significant growth, achieving a 13 percent year-over-year increase during the June quarter. Additionally, Mac sales experienced a 15 percent rise, while subscription services grew by 13 percent.
