Apple is in the process of launching its first artificial intelligence (AI) support chatbot, known as the Support Assistant, to select users. This feature is integrated into the Apple Support app and aims to assist users with common issues related to their devices and services. The introduction of this chatbot is expected to streamline problem-solving for users, thereby reducing the wait time for live support agents.
Apple Support’s AI Chatbot Will Offer 24×7 Assistance
According to a report from MacRumors, a specific group of iPhone users can now access this new feature in the Apple Support app. The AI chatbot is located in a dedicated tab next to the Activities option within the app’s navigation menu. One member of the MacRumors community, Gaitlyn, shared that a new splash screen appears when users tap on the Chat tab for the first time, providing an overview of the feature.

Screenshots provided by users display a message on the splash screen titled “Chat with Support,” indicating that the service is in early preview. Apple encourages users with the statement, “Try our automated chat feature, a new way to find solutions fast.”
The tech giant aims to highlight that the Support Assistant can effectively address typical issues faced by users of Apple products and services. In instances where the chatbot is unable to provide a solution, it will automatically direct users to an Apple Expert for further assistance.
Apple notes that the chatbot is still experimental and may not always deliver accurate answers. A disclaimer from the company mentions that it may utilize information from interactions with the chatbot, alongside device and account details, to enhance its understanding of user issues and improve its responses. However, it remains unclear if users have the option to disable this data collection.
The chatbot has limitations and does not support inquiries beyond Apple-related issues. Users dissatisfied with the chatbot’s responses have the option to escalate their concerns to a live support agent. MacRumors has indicated that the duration of this early preview and the timeline for broader access to the Support Assistant remain unspecified.
