Amazon has unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI) video generation model capable of producing up to two minutes of video content from a single input prompt. The Amazon Nova Reel 1.1 AI model, announced on Monday, builds on the functionality of its predecessor, the Nova Reel, which was launched at last year’s re:Invent event. With enhanced quality and reduced latency, the most notable advancement of this updated model is its ability to generate longer video lengths in one go.
Amazon Nova Reel 1.1 Features and Pricing
In a blog post, the company detailed the features of the Nova Reel 1.1 AI model. This model can create videos composed of up to 20 six-second clips, allowing for multi-shot content totaling 120 seconds, rather than a continuous shot.
The AI model is accessible to both developers and general users through the Amazon Bedrock platform. Users have the option to provide a single prompt for the AI to determine the shots or to specify individual prompts for each shot, offering greater control over the production.
The single prompt option, known as Multishot Automated in Bedrock, allows users to input prompts of up to 4,000 characters to generate a multi-shot video. Alternatively, the Multishot Manual mode enables users to create up to 512-character prompts for each shot, with the addition of image references for each segment, provided they meet a resolution of 1280x720p.
Amazon is targeting professionals in advertising, marketing, media, and entertainment with this AI model, emphasizing the flexibility it offers in managing various production elements, including camera movement and shot content.
As for pricing, the Amazon Nova Reel models, encompassing both versions 1.0 and 1.1, are priced at $0.08 (approximately Rs. 6.9) per second of generated video. Consequently, two minutes of video would cost $9.6 (around Rs. 830). It’s important to note that additional edits would constitute a separate project, as inline edits are not offered.
While Amazon has not revealed the dataset sources used to train the Nova Reel AI model, the company has stated that it will provide legal protection to all Amazon Web Services (AWS) clients in the event of copyright infringement lawsuits, as part of its indemnity policy.
