Beloved survival-horror game Alien: Isolation, inspired by the iconic Alien film series, is set to receive a sequel. To mark the tenth anniversary of its original release, developer Creative Assembly has revealed that development on the sequel is underway, although specific details regarding the game or its setting remain undisclosed. Alien: Isolation was originally launched in 2014 and is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Sequel to Alien: Isolation Officially Announced
The confirmation came through a message to fans commemorating the game’s milestone anniversary. In a post shared on Alien: Isolation’s official X account, creative director Al Hope expressed his gratitude to players, referring to the title as a “dream project.” For years, fans have eagerly awaited news of a sequel.
“On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear,” stated Hope. “Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”
While Hope did not reveal information regarding the sequel’s storyline or release date, it is anticipated that Alien: Isolation 2 will uphold the suspenseful atmosphere that fans appreciated in its predecessor.
Set fifteen years after the original Alien film, Alien: Isolation follows Amanda Ripley, the daughter of the series’ famed character Ellen Ripley, as she seeks to uncover her mother’s fate on the Sevastopol space station. The station is plagued by a menacing Xenomorph, and players must navigate stealthily and utilize a motion tracker to evade detection, while facing the alien with a limited arsenal. The original game earned widespread acclaim for its gripping survival-horror mechanics.
In light of the popular announcement, Alien: Isolation – The Collection is currently on sale, with an 85 percent discount across various platforms such as Steam and the Epic Games Store. This promotional offer is set to conclude later today.
Initially released on October 7, 2014, for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, Alien: Isolation was later adapted for the Nintendo Switch in 2019 and made its way to iOS and Android platforms in 2021.
