Alcatel is poised to re-enter the Indian smartphone market after several years of inactivity. The French brand, managed by TCL Communication under a trademark license from Nokia, has confirmed plans to launch a series of new premium smartphones locally manufactured in India. In addition to production efforts, the company aims to establish a comprehensive service network across the nation to enhance customer support.

TCL Communication Set to Reintroduce Alcatel Smartphones in India

In a recent press release, Alcatel announced its intention to begin operations in India. The company plans to offer a lineup of premium smartphones that feature innovative technology, India’s first patented innovations, and a design aesthetic rooted in French heritage, all combined with advanced hardware and distinctive features. Notably, one of the upcoming models will include a stylus.

“Our devices encapsulate style and performance, catering to tech enthusiasts, urban aspirants, fashion-conscious consumers, and digital nomads. We believe technology should be both powerful and reflective of current trends, and we look forward to launching products that embody this vision in the Indian market,” stated Atul Vivek, Chief Business Officer of Alcatel.

The new smartphones from Alcatel will be manufactured entirely within India, aligning with the government’s Make in India initiative. Additionally, plans are in place to launch a pan-India service network to support customers.

“By producing our devices domestically, we seek to improve supply chain efficiency, ensure high quality, and contribute to India’s expanding technology ecosystem. This strategic decision not only reinforces our commitment to the Indian market but also supports our aim to make cutting-edge technology accessible and affordable for consumers,” said Ansh Rathi, Chief Operating Officer.

For context, Alcatel has not released any new smartphones in India since 2018. While the brand, operating under TCL Communication with a license from Nokia, has launched various products like the Alcatel 1, Alcatel TKEE Mini, and Alcatel 3L (2021) in over 160 international markets, reintroducing Alcatel phones would mark a significant return to the Indian smartphone sector.
