On Monday, Xtelify, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airtel, introduced a new cloud platform tailored for telecommunications businesses. Named Airtel Cloud, this robust platform was originally developed to meet the internal operational needs of the telecom giant and features the capacity to manage an impressive 140 crore transactions per minute. Airtel is now extending the platform’s capabilities to third-party telecom providers under Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) models. In addition, the company launched a new artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled software solution to complement the cloud offering.

The Indian telecom operator made a formal announcement regarding the availability of Airtel Cloud for third-party telecom enterprises through a press release. The company emphasized that the platform is sovereign, having been constructed entirely within India, and designed to process up to 140 crore transactions per minute. Airtel further conveyed that the platform operates from “sustainable” data centers, which are equipped to recycle water for server cooling and utilize other eco-friendly resources.

Airtel asserts that its cloud platform is equipped to support sophisticated data and AI-related functions, complete with built-in capabilities for artificial intelligence and machine learning operations. The operator maintains that its IaaS and PaaS services are not only secure but also highly reliable. Additionally, businesses in India could see cloud spending optimized by up to 40 percent. The Airtel Cloud also boasts features such as scalability, reduced costs without specifying the comparison basis, and the absence of vendor lock-ins.

Moreover, alongside the cloud platform, Xtelify unveiled an AI-driven software solution designed to work synergistically with Airtel Cloud. This modular, telecom-centric Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform integrates AI and automation. It offers a converged data engine capable of consolidating data across various systems within a telecom company, providing insights into churn forecasting, network optimization, and average revenue per user (ARPU) predictions.

This new software from Xtelify merges a workforce platform, presumably serving as a task management solution, with an experience platform focused on customer lifecycle management into a cohesive software ecosystem.

Airtel also noted that Xtelify has recently secured three global partnerships for its new platform, comprising Singapore-based Singtel, Globe Telecom from the Philippines, and Airtel Africa, which is a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel.
