At its annual Adobe Max conference on Thursday, Adobe unveiled a range of new features and enhancements across its product lines, including cutting-edge tools powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Notably, the company introduced new Firefly AI models, expanded support for third-party models, updated Adobe Express features, and launched a Firefly mobile application. A new Adobe Boards tool for storyboard creation, along with a Vector model for producing editable vector artwork, were also part of the announcement. Furthermore, Adobe confirmed that its Firefly Video model is now generally accessible to subscribers, following a teaser presentation last year.
Introduction of Adobe Firefly Image 4 AI Models
In a recent blog post, Adobe detailed two new text-to-image AI models named Image Model 4 and Image Model 4 Ultra. These models are successors to the Image Model 3 series that was launched last year.
Adobe asserts that the Model 4 series will provide enhanced accuracy, fidelity to prompts, and realism in image generation. Designed for speed, the Firefly Image Model 4 excels at producing basic illustrations, icons, and simple photographic elements.
Conversely, the Image Model 4 Ultra stands as the premium AI offering, capable of generating photorealistic scenes, human portraits, and intricate visuals. Both models come equipped with functionalities like filters, stylistic options, and composition matching, all available to Firefly subscribers.
Enhanced Features in the Firefly App
In addition, Adobe has rolled out various other Firefly-based tools. The newly introduced Adobe Vector Model enables users to create editable vector artwork, including logo variations and packaging designs, through simple text prompts, all within the Firefly app.
A public beta version of the Firefly Boards tool is now integrated within the Firefly app, allowing users to design storyboards, mood boards, and explore creative concepts. Initially presented as Project Concept, this tool also includes a text-to-image generator, a suite of AI-driven creation and editing tools, and an inline AI editor feature for refining ideas.
Moreover, the Adobe Firefly Video model is now fully accessible to all users, building upon its initial introduction back in September 2023.
In a move towards collaboration, Adobe is also incorporating third-party AI models into the Firefly app. Users can already leverage OpenAI’s image generation features, along with Google’s Image 3 and Veo 2 models, and the Flux 1.1 Pro model previously used for Grok’s image generation. Plans are in place to include additional models from partners like fal.ai, Ideogram, Luma, Pika, and Runway in the upcoming months, according to the company.
Importantly, Firefly offers several subscription plans catering to individuals, students, and teams, with the starting plan for individuals priced at $9.99 (about Rs. 852) per month.
Fresh Features in Adobe Express
The company also introduced a variety of new functionalities in Adobe Express, its content creation platform, with a primary focus on video editing. Adobe claims these innovations will streamline the video production process.
The latest Clip Maker feature facilitates the transformation of longer videos into shareable clips using AI to identify key moments, add captions, and reframe content effectively.

Additionally, a Firefly Video Model-based tool has been added to generate video content using both text and images for customized b-roll and background footage. Another feature, Enhance Speech, removes background noise, while the Video Self-Record tool allows users to film themselves directly within Adobe Express.
Adobe has also introduced the Drop Zone tool, which organizes clips into sequences, and Scene View, which rearranges clips for batch editing in a seamless flow. Notably, Adobe Express will be integrated with Vimeo, allowing for direct exports and content publication on the platform.
Beyond video capabilities, Adobe Express is enhancing its offerings with a Dynamic Animation tool that infuses natural motion effects into images, converting stills into animated visuals.
For enterprise customers, the Generate Similar feature can produce a collection of visual assets based on a single on-brand image. The company is also launching over 30 new filters within Adobe Express for users to explore.
