Instagram, the popular photo and video-sharing platform, launched its Stories feature in 2016, allowing users to share images and videos that disappear after 24 hours. This innovative addition has seen tremendous growth, amassing a daily user base of 500 million by 2019, significantly transforming the platform’s landscape. Now, Instagram appears poised to roll out a new functionality that enables users to share the profiles of other users directly within their Stories. This potential feature was detected by prominent developer Alessandro Paluzzi.

Paluzzi, known for his insights into app developments, recently indicated on X (formerly Twitter) that Instagram is working on a feature that will let users share another user’s profile in their Stories. The proposed functionality is expected to operate similarly to the existing “Add to Story” option, allowing users to display another profile and encourage their followers to check out and follow the highlighted account.

A screenshot shared by Paluzzi illustrates that Stories will incorporate a “View Profile” button, directing viewers to visit the referenced profile. Once activated, this feature is anticipated to enhance the visibility of profiles and contribute to the growth of follower counts for influencers and content creators. Much like the photos and videos shared within Stories, these profile invitations are likely to vanish after 24 hours and will not appear on the users’ profile grid or in their feed.

In recent months, Instagram has introduced several new features to enhance user experience. Among these updates is the display of song lyrics for Reels, which allows users to customize their videos with lyrics from their favorite songs. Additionally, the platform has launched new editing tools for Reels, enabling users to crop and rotate individual clips with ease.

Instagram has also expanded its Close Friends feature, granting users the ability to share posts and Reels to their main feed that will exclusively be visible to those on their Close Friends list. In a move to diversify its offerings, Meta is also providing a paid ad-free subscription option for Instagram users located in the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland.
