The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is anticipated to launch later this year, stepping in as the successor to the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The current model features an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. While initial reports hinted at the new device debuting with a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, conflicting information has emerged regarding the possibility of an in-house Exynos 2500 chip being used. A recent report has reiterated this latter assertion while also providing a timeline for the smartphone’s production.
Chipset Insights for Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
According to a report by ChosunBiz, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will utilize the Exynos 2500 chipset. Production of the device is projected to commence in May, with an anticipated output of 200,000 units by June. The launch is expected to take place in July.
The decision to favor an Exynos chip over Snapdragon is attributed to considerations of cost and production logistics. With the company planning to manufacture a limited number of 200,000 units, employing an in-house chip is seen as a more practical option. This strategy could enable Samsung to either lower the retail price of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 or enhance its profit margins.
Previously, another report suggested the Galaxy Z Flip 7 would be released worldwide with the Exynos 2500 SoC, which contradicts earlier leaks that indicated it would feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Additionally, a more affordable and slimmer variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 7, potentially branded as FE or Xe, has been reported to be equipped with the in-house Exynos 2400e chipset.
In contrast to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, reports regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s processor remain consistent. All available information points to the book-style foldable being equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC specifically customized for Galaxy devices.
