Samsung is in the process of developing a groundbreaking artificial intelligence (AI) feature that will generate summaries for online videos. This innovation is expected to be part of the forthcoming One UI 8 update, which is anticipated to be based on Android 16 and could be rolled out in the near future. The new operating system version may introduce an AI-driven video summarization tool capable of providing text summaries for videos streamed from platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo.

Samsung’s One UI 8 May Offer Automated Video Summaries

A report from SammyGuru highlights that Samsung is working on an advanced AI feature capable of producing text summaries for online videos. The discovery was made in a concealed debug menu within the Samsung Internet web browser. As the feature is currently inactive, it remains inaccessible even to beta testers of the application.

This AI-powered video summarization capability is likely to be integrated into One UI 8, the next version of Samsung’s Android-based operating system. There is speculation that this update will be built on the expected Android 16, set to debut in June, and could initially launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Flip 7. The feature is anticipated to be part of Samsung’s Galaxy AI functionalities.

An image of the feature has been released by the publication, revealing that users will be able to activate the AI tool on any screen displaying an online video. Upon requesting a summary, a panel will appear at the bottom of the screen featuring the Galaxy AI logo, providing a concise bullet-point description of the video’s content.

The AI summarization feature also includes a “Detailed” option, which offers a more comprehensive overview of the video’s key points. Testing conducted by the publication indicates that this functionality is notably accurate.

Importantly, the feature is designed to function directly on the device, meaning it does not rely on Internet connectivity for processing. Instead, it utilizes the device’s hardware to conduct the necessary computations locally, ensuring user data does not need to be sent to Samsung’s servers.
