Threads has introduced two exciting features for users on its Android and iOS platforms. The Meta-owned social media application now allows users to save post drafts for later editing or posting. In addition, the updated app permits users to capture photos directly within Threads, eliminating the need to switch to the default camera application. These features began rolling out on March 7 and are expected to be available to all users within the coming days. Importantly, Threads recently added a bookmarking feature that lets users save their favorite posts for easy access later.

The announcement came from the official Threads handle as well as a post by Instagram’s Head, Adam Mosseri. He stated, “We’ve been testing the ability to save a draft and also to take photos within the Threads app – we’re now rolling both out to everyone. Hope these make it easier to share your ideas on the fly.” The testing phase for these features lasted just over two weeks following Mosseri’s initial announcement.

The option to save post drafts proves beneficial for users, allowing them to write text, create polls, and attach photos, videos, or audio messages, while postponing the actual posting. This feature is particularly handy for those wanting to refine their content, double-check facts, or prepare posts ahead of time.

Given that Threads currently does not support post scheduling without third-party tools like Hootsuite, the draft feature serves as a workaround for those looking to time their posts more strategically. To utilize this option, users can create a new post, input their content, swipe down, or tap the Cancel icon, followed by the Save draft option.

The second feature newly available is the direct photo capture within the Threads app. Previously, users had to open their device’s default camera app to take photos, which would then be uploaded to Threads. Now, users can simply grant the app access to their device’s camera and take pictures seamlessly within the app. While the Threads camera interface lacks the extensive features found in Instagram’s camera, it streamlines the photo-sharing process. Nonetheless, users may prefer to continue using the default camera due to its advanced capabilities, though enhancements to the Threads camera may arrive in the future.
