Motorola has unveiled significant enhancements to Moto AI, its proprietary artificial intelligence chatbot. The upgrades, announced on Thursday by the Lenovo-owned company, include four new features: Next Move, Playlist Studio, Image Studio, and Look and Talk. Additionally, Motorola is collaborating with prominent AI organizations such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Perplexity to incorporate their technologies into Moto AI. Eligible devices will also receive a complimentary three-month trial of Perplexity Pro and Google One AI Premium subscriptions.
Moto AI Chatbot Remains in Beta Testing
In an official news release, Motorola stated that it is broadening the applications of Moto AI, which has been in an open beta phase since December 2024 for select devices, while also expanding its availability to more users. The chatbot is still undergoing beta testing and is currently compatible with the latest editions of the Razr and Edge models.
Motorola reported that thousands of users have been involved in testing Moto AI and its current features—Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember This. The company noted that feedback indicated users were seeking “more guidance on matching the right features with the right moments.” In light of this feedback, Motorola is refining existing functionalities and introducing new features.
One of the new offerings, Next Move, will provide personalized recommendations based on users’ on-screen content. According to Motorola, this AI feature aims to suggest next steps for users to delve into, allowing them to learn more about the capabilities of AI while also adapting to their preferences.
Another addition, Playlist Studio, leverages content displayed on-screen or user prompts within the Moto AI app to generate curated playlists. Users can request specific playlists, such as a “Pizza night Y2K jams” collection, with the chatbot catering to their musical tastes.
Moto AI is also introducing the Image Studio feature, a text-to-image generator designed to create images, avatars, stickers, and wallpapers. This function will enable users to share visual content via messaging applications and social media platforms.
Look and Talk is a feature currently limited to the Moto Razr 60 Ultra (known as Razr Ultra in the US). This functionality allows users to obtain immediate assistance from Moto AI while the foldable smartphone is positioned in stand or tent mode. Furthermore, users can interact with the chatbot using voice commands and receive spoken replies.
Motorola Announces Partnerships With AI Players
Motorola’s collaboration with Google aims to integrate Gemini and Gemini Live functionalities into its smartphones. Users of the Razr series will be able to access the chatbot directly from the external display. Also included is a three-month trial of the Google One AI Premium plan, which features Gemini Advanced, Gemini for Workspace platforms, and 2TB of cloud storage.
This complimentary subscription is available to individuals who purchase select eligible devices, including the Motorola Razr 60 series, Razr 50 series, Razr 40, Edge 60 series, and Edge 50 series.
Additionally, Motorola is teaming up with Meta to make its Smart Connect application accessible on the Meta Horizon Store, allowing Meta Quest users to check messages, favorite applications, and more through their mixed reality headsets.
Integration with Microsoft’s Copilot is also set for the Motorola Razr Ultra and the Edge 60 Pro, enabling users to engage with the Copilot chatbot directly through Moto AI.
Lastly, the Lenovo-owned brand will incorporate Perplexity’s AI search engine within Moto AI. When users conduct web-based search inquiries, they will see an “Explore with Perplexity” option, providing comprehensive responses through the company’s AI search feature.
Furthermore, all Motorola devices launched after March 3 will include a three-month trial of the Perplexity Pro subscription, available exclusively to new subscribers.
