Apple has reportedly finalized the locations for new retail outlets in India as part of its strategy to expand its presence in the country. According to sources, the tech giant plans to open its third store at the DLF Mall of India in Noida. Additionally, Kopa Mall in Pune has been confirmed as the site for Apple’s fourth store. There are also indications that the company is exploring sites for two more stores, which would elevate the total count of Apple Stores in India to six.
New Apple Store Locations in India
The Financial Express, citing anonymous sources, reports that Apple is entering the second phase of its retail expansion in India. This initiative includes the establishment of the Noida and Pune locations for its third and fourth stores, respectively. Furthermore, the company is on the lookout for two more suitable locations in Bengaluru and Mumbai.
Currently, Apple operates two official stores in India, located at Select Citywalk Mall in Delhi and the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. Together, these stores generated a significant revenue of ₹800 crore in their first year, with the outlet in Saket accounting for 60% of that despite being the smaller store. If Apple’s expansion plans proceed as expected, the Noida store will become the second retail establishment for the company in the Delhi-NCR region.
The upcoming store in Mumbai would likely be the second official Apple Store in that city. The report also highlights job postings on LinkedIn for 20 positions with Apple, predominantly oriented towards retail operations.
Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, reportedly revealed the company’s plans for expansion in October 2024. Following this announcement, Apple initiated an extensive recruitment drive, aiming to hire approximately 400 employees to bolster its operations in India. The existing stores in Select Citywalk Mall and BKC are believed to employ between 90-100 personnel each, with similar hiring goals anticipated for future stores in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai.
