Adobe unveiled a range of new features and enhancements during its annual Adobe Max conference on Thursday. The software company introduced updated Firefly artificial intelligence (AI) models, support for third-party models, additional features for Adobe Express, and a new Firefly mobile application. Among other announcements, Adobe launched its Adobe Boards tool, designed specifically for storyboard creation, and introduced a Vector model that enables designers to create editable vector-based artwork. Furthermore, the highly anticipated Adobe Firefly Video model, first teased last year, is now available to subscribers.
Adobe Firefly Image 4 AI Models Released
In a blog post, Adobe detailed two new text-to-image AI models, named Image Model 4 and Image Model 4 Ultra. These models are the successors to the Image Model 3 series launched last year.
According to Adobe, the Model 4 series brings significant enhancements in precision, prompt fidelity, and realism in the generated images. The Firefly Image Model 4 focuses on speed, making it well-suited for creating simple illustrations, icons, and basic photographic objects.
In contrast, the Image Model 4 Ultra aims for high-quality outputs, boasting the ability to produce photorealistic scenes, human portraits, and intricate imagery. Both models offer features such as filters, stylistic choices, and compositional matching. Users can access these models through Firefly subscriptions.
New Features in the Firefly App
In addition, Adobe has rolled out several Firefly-based tools. The new Adobe Vector Model allows for the generation of editable vector artwork, including logo variations, product packaging, icons, scenes, and patterns, all based on natural language text prompts. This feature is now available within the Firefly app.
A public beta of the Firefly Boards tool has also launched, enabling users to work on storyboards, mood boards, or explore creative concepts. Initially introduced as Project Concept, this tool includes a text-to-image generator, various AI-driven creation and editing functionalities, and an inline AI editor feature, offering a platform for users to iterate and refine different ideas.
Additionally, the Adobe Firefly Video model is now fully accessible to all users, following its initial introduction in September 2023.
Beyond its own innovations, Adobe is also enhancing the Firefly app by integrating third-party AI models. Users currently have access to OpenAI’s image generation capabilities, Google’s Image 3 and Veo 2, as well as the Flux 1.1 Pro model, which previously powered Grok’s image generation feature before the release of xAI’s Aurora model. The company has stated plans for further integrations with partners such as fal.ai, Ideogram, Luma, Pika, and Runway in the coming months.
Firefly offers various subscription plans tailored for individuals, students, and teams, with the Firefly Standard plan starting at $9.99 (approximately Rs. 852) monthly.
New Features in Adobe Express
The newly introduced Clip Maker feature enables users to transform longer video footage into shareable clips by utilizing AI. This capability optimizes content by identifying key moments, adding captions, and reframing clips to enhance viewer engagement.

To further expand its capabilities, Adobe is integrating a Firefly Video Model-powered tool that generates custom b-roll and backgrounds from both text and image input. An Enhance Speech tool has also been introduced to eliminate background noise, while Video Self-Record allows users to film themselves directly within Adobe Express.
The Drop Zone tool now enables users to compile clips into sequences, and Scene View allows for rearranging clips, promoting more efficient bulk editing of videos. Furthermore, Adobe Express will now interface with Vimeo, enabling direct export and publication of content to the platform.
In addition to video advancements, the content creation platform is rolling out a Dynamic Animation tool that adds motion effects to still images, transforming them into animated photos.
Enterprise users will benefit from the new Generate Similar feature, which creates a series of visual assets based on a single branded image. More than 30 new filters are also being added to the Adobe Express app, enhancing creative options for users.
