On Monday, ElevenLabs unveiled a new feature aimed at enterprises that enables artificial intelligence (AI) agents to interact seamlessly with one another. Named Agent Transfer, this innovative tool allows conversations to transition from one AI agent to another under designated conditions. The initial agent shares the previous conversation data to help the new agent understand the context and continue the dialogue. According to ElevenLabs, this feature will empower businesses to deploy multiple AI agents with distinct areas of expertise.
ElevenLabs Unveils New Agentic Feature
In an announcement on X (previously Twitter), ElevenLabs detailed the launch of this new agentic capability. Agent Transfer, which falls under the umbrella of Conversational AI, facilitates communication and conversation sharing between two AI agents. While currently available for enterprises, the company has not clarified whether this feature will be offered at an additional cost or incorporated into existing plans. Additionally, ElevenLabs provided instructions for developers on how to enable this feature through its support page.
With the growing adoption of AI agents in various business processes, the challenge of preventing data silos has become increasingly important. Information should not be confined to a single department, rendering it inaccessible to others. While numerous AI leaders are exploring different methods to establish centralized data systems, ElevenLabs is opting to enable agents to communicate directly for effective data sharing.

The operational dynamics of Agent Transfer are noteworthy. In scenarios where the initial AI agent encounters limitations or requires escalation, it typically refers the conversation to a human agent or logs the interaction for future human review. With Agent Transfer, however, the AI agent can directly hand over the conversation to another AI agent better equipped to assist the user, along with the entire conversation history for context.
This capability could significantly enhance efficiency in customer support operations. Businesses could implement specialized AI agents tailored to address general inquiries, technical issues, and complaints. Operating a fleet of these AI systems concurrently may allow companies to optimize their performance, as claimed by ElevenLabs.
