ElevenLabs Unveils AI Agent Transfer for Seamless Chats

ElevenLabs has unveiled a new feature aimed at enterprises that facilitates communication between artificial intelligence (AI) agents. Known as Agent Transfer, this innovative capability allows one AI agent to pass a conversation to another when certain criteria are met. The original agent will also provide the incoming agent with previous conversation data to ensure continuity and contextual understanding. According to ElevenLabs, this feature will enable businesses to create multiple AI agents with specialized functions.

ElevenLabs Unveils New Agentic Feature

In an announcement on X (formerly Twitter), ElevenLabs introduced the new Agent Transfer feature, which is part of its Conversational AI suite. This functionality enables two AI agents to interchange dialogues and share conversation histories. While the feature is currently accessible to enterprise clients, ElevenLabs has not specified whether it will incur additional costs or be included in existing plans. The company has provided guidance on how this capability can be implemented through its Conversational AI support page.

As the integration of AI agents into both internal and external business operations becomes more widespread, avoiding data silos has become increasingly crucial. Companies seek to ensure that information remains accessible across various functions, rather than being confined to one area. While many tech giants are exploring centralized data solutions, ElevenLabs’ approach focuses on enabling agents to communicate with one another to facilitate data sharing.

The operational mechanics of Agent Transfer promise to enhance user interaction. For instance, if an AI agent engages in a conversation that escalates or ventures beyond its knowledge, the conventional protocol often involves handing the user over to a human representative or logging the issue for later review. In contrast, Agent Transfer allows the first AI agent to seamlessly transfer the dialogue to another agent equipped with the necessary expertise, along with the relevant conversation history for context.

This system holds significant potential for customer support departments. Businesses can design specialized AI agents that address a variety of inquiries, ranging from general questions to technical support and complaints.
