Snapdragon India announced on Wednesday its upcoming launch of the Snapdragon X CPUs in the Indian market. First introduced during CES 2025 last month, these chipsets are designed to take on budget alternatives from competitors such as Intel and AMD. The Snapdragon X CPUs are anticipated to include capabilities for artificial intelligence (AI) through a specialized neural processing unit (NPU). The company envisions this new platform powering laptops priced below $600 (approximately Rs. 51,400) globally, a plan that may also extend to India.

The platform is said to be adaptable across a variety of thermal designs and form factors, according to the company’s announcement.
Similar to their international versions, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X CPUs are expected to employ a 4 nanometre fabrication process that includes eight Oryon CPU cores, achieving a peak clock speed of up to 3GHz. This is comparatively lower than the Snapdragon X Plus and Elite models, which can reach clock speeds of 3.4GHz and 3.8GHz, respectively. On the graphics front, the Qualcomm Adreno GPU supports up to three external displays at 4K/60Hz.
The chips can accommodate up to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM and include a total cache of 30MB, with a memory bandwidth of 135GB/s. The integrated Hexagon NPU is reportedly capable of delivering 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance. Devices utilizing Snapdragon X chips will also receive certification as Microsoft Copilot+ PCs.
Qualcomm asserts that its new chipsets can provide up to twice the battery life and performance enhancements of up to 163 percent compared to other processors in the market. The platform also supports modern connectivity options, including 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB 4 Type-C.
