WhatsApp is introducing two exciting features to beta testers on iOS, enhancing the functionality of its widely used messaging application. The first feature simplifies the zooming process when utilizing the in-app camera, while the second enables users to create stickers directly from their Camera Roll or generate them using Meta AI through newly introduced shortcuts. These enhancements are slated for future release to all WhatsApp users on both iOS and Android platforms.
According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, a new zoom control feature has been identified in the WhatsApp beta version 24.9.10.75 for iOS. Beta participants who have enrolled via TestFlight can now update to the latest version and access a dedicated camera zoom control button. This addition allows users to easily switch between various zoom levels when capturing photos or recording videos within WhatsApp.
Presently, WhatsApp enables users to zoom in and out by pinching the viewfinder or swiping up while holding the capture button. These methods, however, are less direct compared to the anticipated dedicated zoom button, which is expected to become available to all users eventually.
This week, the Meta-owned platform also introduced another feature to beta testers with the update to WhatsApp beta for iOS version 24.9.10.74, as reported by WABetaInfo. Those who have updated will notice options to Create and Use AI when the sticker selection panel is activated in WhatsApp.
The Create shortcut allows users to generate new stickers using images from their Camera Roll through the app’s built-in sticker editor. Gadgets 360 confirmed that some users of the stable version of WhatsApp also have access to this functionality. The Use AI shortcut facilitates sticker creation via Meta’s AI service.
Other features currently being tested in WhatsApp’s beta versions include a ‘Recently Online’ list that displays contacts who have been active on the platform. Additionally, the service has updated its color scheme on iOS, introducing green buttons and text throughout the application. Future updates may include support for alternative color themes, which were initially noted in development back in January.
