Paolo Ardonio, the CEO of Tether, has hinted at the development of a new Bitcoin wallet product, which is currently being designed by the company. This wallet will feature an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, allowing users to interact with the AI to retrieve information such as their account balances, wallet addresses, and other pertinent details. This innovation will be part of “Tether Data,” the newly announced collection of AI-driven products being created by the cryptocurrency firm.

Tether’s Upcoming AI Services

Within the Tether Data suite, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin is preparing to introduce several products, including an AI translation tool, an AI voice assistant, and the aforementioned AI Bitcoin wallet assistant.

According to Ardonio, these forthcoming products are designed for a variety of devices, accommodating everything from high-end smartphones to budget-friendly computers.

The Tether CEO shared a brief 48-second video showcasing the AI Bitcoin wallet assistant on the social media platform X. In the demonstration, a user employs the ‘Tether Payment Agent’ to obtain their Bitcoin wallet address by entering a simple query.

Following this, the video illustrates the user asking the AI assistant to verify their Bitcoin balance and transfer tokens to a saved contact’s wallet address. Once the transaction is completed, the Tether Payment Agent alerts the user and provides the transaction ID.

Upon initiation on a device, the service prompts the user with options such as “Assign the agent a task, for example, ask the agent to summarize all your latest transactions.” The interface, featuring a green and black color scheme, offers users the ability to review past tasks or prompt new interactions.

In addition to the Tether Payment Agent, Ardonio also released short clips highlighting the AI translation tool and the AI voice assistant still in development. The translation feature will enable users to convert text, audio, or video into various languages in real-time, while the AI assistant will facilitate conversational exchanges to gather requested information.

Tether’s AI-Focused Moves

In March 2024, Tether made a public commitment to intensifying its AI endeavors. In an official statement, the firm announced plans to lead the development of open-source, multimodal AI models to set new industry benchmarks. Tether also aims to foster collaborations that incorporate AI solutions into products that address real-world issues, while actively engaging with the wider community to propel advancements in open AI.

The company recently announced a strategic investment in Northern Data, a European firm specializing in AI and cloud computing.

To support its Tether Data initiative, the company is pursuing “top-tier” talent from around the globe, including prospects from India.

Initially established in 2014 and currently headquartered in El Salvador, Tether’s USDT stablecoin is pegged to the US dollar. As per the CoinMarketCap index, Tether holds the third position in market valuation, boasting a current market cap exceeding $141 billion (approximately Rs. 12,36,733 crore).
