Nintendo reported on Friday morning that several accessories for the Switch 2 will face price changes due to fluctuations in market conditions. While the console’s launch price and the cost of first-party exclusive titles remain unchanged for the time being, the company has cautioned that further adjustments to product pricing may be implemented in the future depending on market developments.

This announcement coincides with Nintendo’s new date of April 24 for the U.S. pre-orders of the Switch 2. These pre-orders were originally set to begin on April 9 but were postponed to allow the company to evaluate the implications of tariffs and shifting market circumstances on the console’s rollout. In an apology issued alongside the announcement, Nintendo expressed hope that this delay would alleviate some of the uncertainty customers might be facing.

Below are the revised prices for Nintendo’s official Switch 2 accessories, with the original prices (announced on April 2) crossed out:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller: $84.99 ($79.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Controllers: $94.99 ($89.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip: $39.99 ($34.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Straps: $13.99 ($12.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Wheels: $24.99 ($19.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Camera: $54.99 ($49.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set: $119.99 ($109.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case and Screen Protector: $39.99 ($34.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case: $84.99 ($79.99)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter: $34.99 ($29.99)

The Switch 2 will continue to be priced at the previously announced $449.99, with a special bundle featuring a digital download of Mario Kart World available for $499.99. However, Nintendo clarified that this bundle will only be produced until Fall 2025 and will be accessible only while supplies last. Additionally, Mario Kart World will be sold separately for $79.99, while Donkey Kong Bananza is set to debut in July at a suggested retail price of $69.99.

Industry experts had largely anticipated that Nintendo would maintain the pricing of the Switch 2 hardware despite the potential increases stemming from tariffs associated with manufacturing in China and Vietnam. Kantan Games’ Serkan Toto remarked that it may be too late for Nintendo to raise prices, stating, “As far as tariffs go, Nintendo was looking at a black box all the way until April 2, just like everybody else. As a hardware manufacturer, Nintendo most likely ran simulations to achieve a price that would mitigate tariff impacts as much as possible.”

Nonetheless, the existing pricing strategy may not be sustainable indefinitely. Ampere Analysis’ Piers Harding-Rolls suggested that if tariffs continue, a price increase in 2026 might be a possibility, emphasizing the cautious approach Nintendo will need to take given the significance of the U.S. market.

Since the announcement of the Switch 2 launch details earlier this month, Nintendo’s promotional livestreams have been flooded with comments urging the company to reconsider its pricing strategy.
