Activision announced on Monday that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has achieved record-breaking player engagement in its first month since launch. The publisher referred to Black Ops 6 as “the biggest Call of Duty ever,” citing a surge in player numbers that surpassed any previous title within the series during this initial timeframe. This announcement came shortly after Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the game as the most significant release in the franchise during the company’s first-quarter earnings call for fiscal year 2025.
Player Engagement Metrics for Black Ops 6
In a recent post on X, Activision reported that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 recorded unprecedented figures for player count, total hours played, and matches completed during its first 30 days. According to the company, the engagement metrics make Black Ops 6 the “biggest Call of Duty ever.”
“Thank you to the Call of Duty community for continuing to make the launch of #BlackOps6 one for the record books,” the publisher expressed in its announcement. However, Activision did not disclose specific sales figures for the game.
During last month’s earnings call, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella indicated that Black Ops 6 achieved remarkable success, particularly in day-one player numbers. He mentioned that unit sales on platforms like PlayStation and Steam saw an increase of over 60 percent year-over-year when compared to the previous year’s release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Furthermore, Black Ops 6 set a new record for the number of subscribers added on its launch day to Xbox Game Pass. This title marked a milestone as the first Call of Duty game to be available on Game Pass from day one. However, Microsoft did not provide details on the number of new subscribers joining the service following the game’s release.
Analysts have speculated that the latest installment could bring in as many as four million new subscribers to Xbox Game Pass. It is anticipated that unit sales might be affected due to the availability of the game through the subscription service.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 officially launched on October 25 and is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
