Upcoming updates for the Apple Vision Pro headset may introduce enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. According to reports, Apple is set to launch these features alongside the visionOS 2.4 update, scheduled for a global release in April. Last year, it was suggested that AI functionalities would be integrated into the device by 2025. In addition to AI enhancements, the update is anticipated to include a refined guest mode and a new app focused on spatial content.

Expansion of Apple Intelligence Expected for Vision Pro

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg indicated in a report that users may gain access to Apple Intelligence features come April, coinciding with the projected release of the visionOS 2.4 update. Citing sources familiar with the developments, the report noted that a developer beta version could be unveiled as early as this week.

Among the new AI capabilities expected with the update are Writing Tools, Genmojis, and the Image Playground app. However, it’s reported that certain other features may not be available at launch and could be integrated in subsequent updates. This marks a significant move for Apple as it expands its AI offerings beyond select iPhone, iPad, and MacBook models to include the Vision Pro ecosystem.

The decision to bring AI features to the Vision Pro likely stems from the device’s robust hardware, which includes an M2 chipset and 16GB of RAM, providing sufficient capacity for on-device AI processing.

Notably, the initial set of Apple Intelligence features is expected to exclude an upgraded AI-driven version of Siri. Gurman has mentioned in a separate report that technical issues are hindering the virtual assistant’s performance, causing inconsistencies in the AI functionalities and potentially delaying the release of the enhanced version.

In addition to the AI features, the Apple Vision Pro is also expected to introduce an enhanced guest mode that will allow users to control app access through their iPhones. Furthermore, the rollout will include a new app designed for displaying spatial content, which will feature support for 3D images and panoramic views.
