Samsung is expected to reveal its Galaxy Z Flip 7 later this year during a Galaxy Unpacked event. Although official details about the clamshell foldable device are yet to be released, fresh rumors regarding its specifications have emerged online. Reports suggest that Samsung plans to utilize its in-house Exynos 2500 chipset for this upcoming foldable phone, marking a shift from its recent trend of using Qualcomm chipsets.

According to a report by the Korean media outlet Seoul Economic Daily, Samsung’s Mobile Experience (MX) Division is gearing up for mass production of new foldable smartphones in May at its factories located in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do (Korea) and Vietnam. The company is reportedly aiming to produce around 240,000 units of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and approximately 170,000 units of the anticipated Galaxy Z Flip FE. In addition, about 160,000 units of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are expected to be manufactured, featuring four color options, including a new Coral Red variant that aligns with the Galaxy S25 series.

The report indicates that Samsung’s MX division is in the final stages of testing the integration of the Exynos 2500 chip into the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The company is focused on implementing its proprietary chipset in this next-generation flip-foldable phone, regardless of market region.

The Exynos 2500 chipset, developed by Samsung’s System LSI division and manufactured using a 3nm process, was initially intended for the Galaxy S25 series. However, it was reportedly scrapped due to performance concerns and other unspecified issues.

Since the launch of its first foldable devices, Samsung has relied on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets. If these latest leaks are accurate, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could mark the first instance where the brand deploys its homegrown Exynos system-on-chip in its foldable lineup.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is projected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in July. It is rumored to feature a 3.6-inch cover display, complemented by a 6.8-inch internal display. The device is expected to come equipped with 12GB of RAM and offer storage options of 256GB or 512GB. Camera capabilities are said to include a dual rear camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor alongside a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. A 4,300mAh battery is anticipated, supporting 25W wired charging.
