Rocksteady Studios announced on Monday that the current season of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be its last. The developer revealed that the final update, Season 4, Episode 8, is expected to be released in January 2025. Additionally, the much-requested Offline mode will launch this week with the Episode 7 update, which will also introduce a new playable character, gear, and an Elseworld to explore.
Offline Mode Introduced in Suicide Squad
In a blog post released Monday, Rocksteady detailed the upcoming changes for Season 4, Episode 7: Control. Scheduled to roll out on December 10, this seasonal update will include the highly anticipated Offline mode, allowing players to experience the main story campaign and seasonal missions without requiring an internet connection. The update will also add Deathstroke as a new playable character, along with fresh gear sets and a new Elseworld environment to explore.
In Offline mode, players will have access to all content; they can create a new profile or transfer their progress by duplicating their existing online profile.

Final Seasonal Update Announcement
The developer confirmed that Season 4 will conclude with Episode 8 in January 2025. “With Deathstroke joining the roster, the Suicide Squad’s battle against Brainiac is coming to a close. Episode 8 will mark the end of seasonal updates for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” stated Rocksteady in their blog post.
Players will continue to have access to online features, including co-op play, as well as all post-launch content in both online and offline modes.
The conclusion of Suicide Squad’s seasonal updates comes after the game experienced disappointing sales since its launch in February. The live service elements failed to engage a significant player base, and despite ongoing content releases that introduced new characters, missions, and gear, publisher Warner Bros. announced in May it would incur a significant $200 million (approximately Rs. 1,679 crore) loss on the title.
In September, reports emerged of layoffs at Rocksteady, predominantly affecting the quality assurance (QA) department.
This announcement reflects broader trends in the live service game sphere, with numerous titles facing retention issues. Recently, Ubisoft discontinued its live service shooter, XDefiant, announcing server shutdowns planned for June 2025. Additionally, Square Enix shared on December 5 that Foamstars would wrap up its seasonal updates after the final season, “The Party Goes On,” which will run from December 13 to January 17, 2025.
