Leaks surrounding Xiaomi’s upcoming 16 series have begun to surface online, even with approximately six months remaining until its official release. The most recent information points to an impressive battery capacity for the standard model, with the Xiaomi 16 expected to be powered by either the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. The Xiaomi 15, which made its debut in India last month, featured a 5,240mAh battery and was equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
Chinese tipster Wisdom Pikachu shared insights on Weibo, indicating that the Xiaomi 16 may be announced by the end of 2025. It is rumored that the device will come with a battery exceeding 7,000mAh and will utilize either the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipsets.
The current-generation Xiaomi 15 launched in China in October last year with a 5,400mAh battery, supporting 90W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, which was already impressive. The latest rumors suggest that the forthcoming model will significantly surpass these specifications. In India, the Xiaomi 15’s variant features a 5,240mAh battery alongside the same fast-charging capabilities. Additionally, it is speculated that the Xiaomi 16 series may incorporate the latest Silicon-carbon technology.

The Xiaomi 15 showcases a 6.36-inch full-HD+ (1,200 x 2,670 pixels) LTPO AMOLED display and operates on a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, available with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Its triple rear camera system consists of a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 900 sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide angle shooter, alongside a 32-megapixel front camera. The device also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
In India, the Xiaomi 15 was launched at a price of Rs. 64,999 for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant.
