Samsung has officially suspended the deployment of its highly anticipated One UI 7 update following reports of a significant bug that has affected the ability of some Galaxy S24 users to unlock their devices.

The news of the rollout pause was initially shared by tech leaker Ice Universe, who indicated that the issue is serious enough to warrant immediate action. Complaints about the unlocking problem have largely originated from South Korean users of the Galaxy S24 series, prompting Samsung to take a precautionary approach by halting the update for all models around the globe.

Although some users had managed to download the One UI 7 update prior to the suspension, checks using the CheckFirm app indicate that the update has been removed from Samsung’s servers for several Galaxy devices, with older firmware versions now displayed instead. Samsung has yet to confirm the halt in the update rollout or provide details on any measures for users who have already received the One UI 7 update. Inquiries have been made to the company for further clarification.

The One UI 7 update, which includes Android 15 along with enhanced AI features, commenced distribution on April 7 for the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 models, reaching the US market by April 10. Additionally, this update has been available to Galaxy S25 devices as well as various models in the more affordable Galaxy A series since their release in February.

This suspension follows an extensive delay in delivering the update to older devices, arriving a full seven months after Android 15 was first introduced to developers, and two months after the S25 series was launched with the software pre-installed.
