Lava Shark: Budget Phone with AI Camera Launches in India!

On Tuesday, Lava officially introduced the Lava Shark smartphone in the Indian market. This entry-level device boasts an AI-enhanced 50-megapixel primary camera on the rear. It operates on a Unisoc T606 processor and offers configurations with up to 8GB of dynamic RAM. Pre-installed with Android 14, the smartphone is powered by a robust 5,000mAh battery. It also features advanced AI imaging capabilities, face unlock technology, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Currently, the Lava Shark is available for purchase through offline retail channels in India.

Lava Shark Price and Availability in India

The Lava Shark is priced at Rs. 6,999 for the model featuring 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, as confirmed by the company in an official statement. Additionally, Lava is providing customers with a one-year warranty and complimentary home service. The device can be purchased from Lava’s retail outlets across the country and is available in two color options: Stealth Black and Titanium Gold.

Features and Specifications of Lava Shark

The Lava Shark comes equipped with a 6.7-inch HD+ (720 x 1,612 pixels) display, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and a pixel density of 269ppi. It is driven by an octa-core Unisoc T606 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM, with an option to virtually extend RAM by an additional 4GB. The phone provides expandable storage capabilities of up to 256GB and runs on Android 14.

In terms of photography, the handset features a 50-megapixel AI-enhanced primary lens paired with an LED flash on the rear and an 8-megapixel camera for selfies on the front. The device also includes several additional features such as AI Mode, Portrait mode, Pro Mode, and HDR support to enhance image quality.

Powering the Lava Shark is a 5,000mAh battery which supports 18W wired charging via a USB Type-C connection. Included in the packaging is a 10W charger, with claims of providing up to 45 hours of talk time and a full charge completed in approximately 158 minutes. For security purposes, the smartphone features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock capability. Furthermore, its IP54 rating provides resistance against dust and splashes. Connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac.
