The Grok AI chatbot is now accessible in top-level replies on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. Users can summon the chatbot by tagging it in post replies, allowing it to provide contextual responses to various inquiries. The AI is equipped to understand and interpret both images and videos, enabling it to respond to media-rich posts effectively. Perplexity is also rolling out a similar interactive feature for X users.
Grok Can Be Summoned in Replies on X
In recent weeks, the platform owned by Elon Musk has integrated the Grok feature into multiple areas. The Grok button is now conveniently located in the post creation section, alongside every post both in website side margins and app bottom menus. Additionally, it can be found next to user profiles as a summary tool, and it appears as a standalone button on the lower right side of the website.
However, the developers expanded Grok’s functionality to include separate summon options in post replies. Users can tag “@grok” followed by their prompt, leading to quick responses from the AI chatbot. Observations by the staff at Gadgets 360 confirmed users engaging with Grok on both text and media-based posts.
Upon being tagged, Grok utilizes its contextual understanding of the posts, allowing users to ask vague questions such as, “explain this,” and still receive relevant information based on the content. Moreover, Grok supports web searches, and there have been instances where it provided up-to-date information. It is important to note that the summoning feature works exclusively for top-level comments; using it in reply to other replies does not activate the feature.
Perplexity has introduced a similarly functioning AI bot. According to Aravind Srinivas, the company’s CEO, users can tag @AskPerplexity in a post reply for instant chatbot assistance. However, it’s noteworthy that follow-up questions cannot be directed at either of the chatbots.
