Runway has launched its latest artificial intelligence (AI) video generation model, known as Gen-4 Turbo, part of the newly unveiled Gen-4 family. This advanced model focuses on enhancing generation speed while maintaining efficiency, aiming to assist users in quicker iterations and expanding the creative possibilities for their projects. The Gen-4 Turbo is available to all paid subscription plans and features improved consistency in character representation, environmental settings, and object interactions, along with a more realistic portrayal of physics.

Runway’s Gen-4 Turbo Comes Released

In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Runway highlighted that the Gen-4 Turbo can generate a 10-second video in a mere 30 seconds. In contrast, the standard Gen-4 model can take upwards of several minutes to produce a video of the same length.

The emphasis on speed is complemented by increased credit efficiency. According to Runway’s website, the Gen-4 Turbo consumes five credits for each second of video generated. Thus, creating a five-second video would require 25 credits, while a 10-second video would use 50 credits. This is significantly lower than the Gen-4 model, which uses 12 credits for each second of video.

Runway provides credits as part of its subscription plans, which vary by tier. The Standard plan affords users 625 credits for $12 (approximately Rs. 1,034) per month, while the Unlimited plan, priced at $76 (about Rs. 6,550) monthly, offers unlimited credit access to users.

The Gen-4 series also brings several enhancements compared to its predecessor. Runway asserts that using a single reference image, the models can now generate characters that remain consistent under various lighting, locations, and camera perspectives.

Additionally, the Gen-4 model allows users to employ text prompts to create scenes from multiple camera angles, including both close-ups and wide-angle profiles. Furthermore, enhancements have been made to the realism of physical interactions, ensuring that actions like movement, object drops, glass breakages, and effects of wind are depicted more convincingly.
