Google has begun the rollout of its Gemini Live feature, which includes camera capabilities and screenshare options designed for its conversational AI chatbot. The update is now available on both the Pixel 9 series and Samsung Galaxy S25 devices, with plans to expand access to other Android smartphones in the near future. However, users must be subscribed to Gemini Advanced to utilize these new features.

After installation, users can easily enable the live video function with a simple button press. This allows them to ask Gemini Live about whatever is in view of the camera. During a demonstration in Google’s April Pixel Drop video, users could point their cameras at an aquarium and inquire about different fish species. Additionally, the screenshare feature lets users showcase shopping websites to Gemini Live, which can compare products or offer styling suggestions.

In a statement last month, Google representative Alex Joseph confirmed to Technology News that these features were being rolled out, with some users on platforms like Reddit noting they had gained access, including those using Xiaomi devices. The Gemini Live capabilities for video and screensharing were initially showcased at Google’s I/O developer conference in May as part of “Project Astra.”

Gemini Live supports 45 languages and is available in select countries for users aged 18 and over, excluding educational and enterprise accounts.
