Apple has officially discontinued its Clips video editing application, which was first launched in 2017. Designed to enable users to edit and share videos featuring music, text, and various filters, Clips evolved over time with the addition of augmented reality (AR) capabilities and enhanced editing features. However, updates for the app have become increasingly infrequent in recent times.
The app is now no longer available for download from the App Store, as confirmed by a recent update on Apple’s support page. The message indicates that “the Clips app is no longer being updated, and will no longer be available for download for new users as of October 10, 2025.” Users who have previously downloaded the app can still access it on iOS and iPadOS devices, but it is advisable to backup any videos made with the app directly to the Photos library. The support page provides specific guidance for saving videos, with and without effects, to ensure that video content remains accessible even if Clips ceases to function due to future operating system updates.
