Apple has announced that its Vision Pro headset will feature new immersive content for the upcoming NBA season, including a select number of live Los Angeles Lakers games. This content will be presented in the unique Apple Immersive Video format, allowing users to experience the action from a perspective akin to sitting courtside. Apple highlighted that this format delivers viewing angles that traditional broadcasts cannot provide.
The Vision Pro’s library of immersive offerings continues to expand, showcasing a variety of experiences like a scripted short filmed inside a submarine, a Metallica concert, and a short film related to the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. However, the upcoming Lakers games will mark the inaugural live sports presentations available through Apple Immersive Video.
The first Lakers game in this immersive format is scheduled to be accessible early next year via the NBA app or the newly launched Spectrum SportsNet app. Apple plans to announce the complete lineup of games later this fall. To enjoy these experiences, users will need to ensure that their Vision Pro device is updated to visionOS 26.
