In a bid to make prescription drugs more affordable, President Donald Trump has announced the upcoming launch of a government-operated website named TrumpRx. Scheduled to go live in 2026, the platform aims to connect Americans with discounts from various pharmaceutical companies’ online pharmacies, including Pfizer, as previously reported by The New York Times and NPR.

The announcement made on Tuesday is tied to a new agreement that permits Pfizer a three-year exemption from tariffs, contingent on the company increasing its manufacturing investments within the United States, according to a Pfizer press release. Additionally, Pfizer has pledged to reduce prices for a vast majority of its primary care medications provided through state Medicaid programs, which the company claims could yield up to 50% in average savings.

While information on the TrumpRx.gov website remains limited, senior officials revealed to NPR that the platform will guide users to order medications directly from pharmaceutical company websites. Notably, discounts will be available only to patients without health insurance. Officials from Trump’s administration also indicated that similar agreements have been established with other pharmaceutical manufacturers, though specific names were not disclosed.
