Starting today, users can subscribe to test Opera’s new AI browser, Neon, which is priced at $19.90 per month. This offering will initially be available to a select group of individuals.
Opera introduced the “agentic browser” in May, although initial information was limited. New details reveal that Opera Neon features a variety of AI agents specifically designed for distinct functions. One agent, referred to as Tasks, serves as a dedicated workspace for particular activities, while another named Do handles the web browsing component within a Task. Users will have the ability to store prompts for these AI agents in a feature known as Cards.
The current rollout is restricted to an undisclosed number of users, with additional individuals needing to sign up for a waitlist.
Opera has labeled Neon as the “next generation AI browser,” a description that comes amidst a wave of new AI browsing options hitting the market. Recent months have seen the launch of relevant products such as Perplexity’s Comet browser in July, followed closely by OpenAI’s ChatGPT Agent. Additionally, Atlassian recently acquired The Browser Company, which produces the Dia browser, and Google has rolled out new Gemini features integrated into Chrome.
