WhatsApp is reportedly in the process of introducing a new capability for its iOS application, allowing users to manage multiple accounts on a single device. This development aims to streamline account administration and reduce the necessity of carrying multiple devices or using different versions of the app for iOS. With the forthcoming multi-account feature, users may enjoy the convenience of switching between various WhatsApp accounts through a straightforward user interface.
Multi-Account Support on WhatsApp for iOS
According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the messaging service under Meta Platforms is developing functionality intended for inclusion in a future version of the app. This feature was detected in the beta version 25.2.10.70 for WhatsApp on iOS and is expected to allow users to operate multiple accounts, both personal and professional, directly from their iPhones.
A screenshot released by the feature tracker indicates that this option will be accessible through the app settings, allowing users to add new WhatsApp accounts. However, switching between accounts may necessitate restarting the app. Currently, users can manage multiple WhatsApp accounts on one device through workarounds, often by designating one as a WhatsApp Business account, regardless of business representation.
WABetaInfo noted that this functionality is still under development and is not yet available to beta testers enrolled in Apple’s TestFlight program. The feature is anticipated to be rolled out to more beta users of WhatsApp for iOS in the coming weeks.
Additionally, a similar enhancement was reported for the WhatsApp beta on Android version 2.23.17.8, which was accessible to beta testers using the Google Play Beta program. While the platform appears to be exploring numerous new features across different platforms, it is essential to recognize that not all features may be included in the public release.
